About the Miners
S&T is tied for the second-longest winning streak in Division II, winning their previous 11 games. The streak has set a new program record as well, breaking the previous record of 10 set in 2011. They are third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) standings, sitting behind Maryville and Illinois Springfield and rank top five in both batting and pitching.
Bricen Smith (Perry, GA/Mount de Sales Academy) is leading the team in batting average, hitting .410. He also ranks 8th in both hits per game and on base percentage with a 1.58 and a .512, respectively.
Garrett Meyer (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville) has hit 6 home runs this season, leading the Miners in that category and in RBIs with 34.
Ethan Payne (Bentonville, AR/Bentonville) leads the team in ERA with a 2.31 in 10 outings. He has struck out 12 and earned three saves in those appearances.
Dylan Bates' (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West) 28 strikeouts are the most on the team, with the senior righty pitching two complete games and a shutout during the Miners' 11-game win streak.
About the Bearcats
Southwest Baptist went one for four in last week's series against Missouri-St. Louis, only defeating the Tritons in game three of the series in a 9-2 rout. The Bearcats are 13-15 overall and sit 10th in the GLVC standings with a 7-9 in-conference record.
The Bearcats have thrived on doing little things well this year, leading the conference in sacrifice bunts and ranking 6th in strikeouts-to-walk ratio. Raydley Legito leads the team in batting average with a .373 and in runs batted in with 32.
Three of SBU's starting pitchers have recorded over 30 strikeouts this season, led by Koen Van T Klooster who has 39. Eli Stewart is close behind with 32 while also leading the starters in ERA at 4.54 going undefeated in three starts.
