INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T's Aaron Sallade (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week following a standout performance in the Miners' conference-opening series against Roosevelt in Chicago.
Sallade played a key role in Missouri S&T's strong start to GLVC play, helping the Miners sweep Roosevelt in the opening match before narrowly falling in five sets in the second contest.
In the first match, Sallade led the Miners offensively and defensively in a straight-set victory (25-19, 26-24, 25-15). He recorded 15 kills while hitting an impressive .609, committing just one error on 23 attempts. Sallade also added four block assists and five digs, finishing with a team-high 17 points to guide Missouri S&T to the sweep.
Sallade followed with another strong all-around performance in the second match of the series, finishing with 15 kills and five block assists while adding nine digs in a tightly contested five-set battle (25-22, 22-25, 25-15, 19-25, 13-15).
Across the two matches, Sallade totaled 30 kills, nine block assists, and 14 digs, anchoring Missouri S&T on both sides of the net and leading the Miners in key moments throughout the weekend.
The honor marks Sallade's first GLVC weekly award of the season and highlights Missouri S&T's strong start in conference play.
