ROLLA, Mo. — The Missouri S&T Miners continued their torrid stretch on Tuesday afternoon, exploding for 16 runs on 17 hits to overpower Harding, 16-2, at the Ballpark at S&T. The victory extends the Miners' winning streak to seven games, tying them for the third-longest active streak in Division II this year.
After a quiet opening inning, Missouri S&T wasted little time seizing control in the second. Denton Damgaard (Colorado Springs, CO/Cheyenne Mountain HS) sparked the frame with a single, and Aiden Cizek (Wildwood, MO/Lafayette) followed with a base hit to put immediate pressure on Harding. That set the stage for Will Muench (Wentzville, MO/Timberland), who drove a double into left field to bring home the game's first run. Moments later, Landen Roberts (St. Clair, MO/St. Clair) lifted a sacrifice fly to center, plating another and giving the Miners a 2-0 edge.
The Miners' offense shifted into another gear in the third, turning a solid start into a surge. Bricen Smith (Perry, GA/Mount de Sales Academy) came around to score on a sacrifice fly from Will Beckham (Mountain Home, AR/Mountain Home), and Garrett Meyer (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville) crossed the plate shortly after on another sac fly off the bat of Cizek. With runners still aboard, Muench delivered the biggest blow of the inning, ripping a triple down the right field line to score two more. Roberts followed with an RBI double to right-center, capping a five-run inning and stretching the lead to 7-0.
While the offense piled on, starter Zander Street (Festus, MO/St. Pius X) kept Harding at bay. The right-hander worked efficiently through four innings, allowing just one run while scattering five hits and striking out three.
Missouri S&T broke the game wide open in the fourth with an emphatic eight-run inning that showcased the depth of its lineup. Drew Baugus (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood) ignited the rally with a double, later scoring on a fielder's choice from Meyer. Beckham and Damgaard added back-to-back singles to drive in runs, and with the bases loaded, Muench drew a walk to force in another.
An error by the Bisons' infield kept the fourth inning alive for S&T, allowing Smith to deliver an RBI single, followed by Meyer lining a two-run single up the middle to cap the outburst. By the time Harding was able to record the third out and end the inning, the Miners had turned a comfortable lead into a commanding 15-1 advantage.
Harding managed to scratch across a run in the fifth, but Missouri S&T quickly answered in the sixth. Roberts singled to start the inning and eventually came home when Caleb Horsey (Springdale, AR/Springdale) punched a base hit through the right side, adding the Miners' final run of the day.
On the mound, the Miners' bullpen continued the strong showing. Drew Timp (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood) worked through the fifth, Jackson Yerkes (Rossford, OH/Rossford) delivered a clean sixth, and Jack Manninen (River Falls, WI/River Falls) closed things out, combining to hold Harding to just one additional run while preserving the dominant margin.
Offensively, Missouri S&T was led by a collection of standout performances. Meyer finished with three hits and three RBIs, Damgaard added three hits and scored three times, and Muench drove in four runs on a triple and a double. Roberts contributed two hits and two RBIs, while multiple players across the lineup found ways to produce.
