Missouri S&T men’s volleyball player Nate Meyer, wearing a white Miners uniform, is photographed leaping high above the net to spike the ball with his right hand during a match inside Gibson Arena. His body is fully extended in midair, with his hitting arm drawn back and eyes focused on the ball above him. Teammates in white uniforms are positioned around the court preparing for the play, including one near the net and others in defensive stances. Two opposing players in dark uniforms jump to block on the right side of the net.

Meyer Becomes First Miner in 1000 Kills Club; Miners Sweep Jimmies

ROLLA, Mo.  --  Missouri S&T Volleyball trounced the Jamestown Jimmies on Friday evening, sweeping the visitors 25-13. 25-15, 25-23. Nate Meyer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) recorded a team-high 13 kills, becoming the first Miner in program history to eclipse 1000 career kills.

Three kills by Meyer in the first eight points gave the Miners a 6-2 lead. He then went on an eleven-point serving run, with S&T recording seven kills and two blocks in that stretch to extend the lead to 18-4. Jamestown added a pair of 3-0 runs late but a kill by Aaron Sallade (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) put the set away at 25-13.

Meyer, Caleb Rohlwing (Barrington, Ill./Barrington), and Tyler Johnwick (Lombard, IL/Glenbard East) combined for four kills and a block to open set two with a 5-0 run. The Jimmies settled in and matched the Miners in the following points, but two 4-0 runs by the Miners quickly doubled up the visitors score at 18-9. Meyer, Sallade, Johnwick, and Rohwling all added kills down the stretch, to give the Miners set two 25-15.

The Jimmies took an early advantage, going up 6-3 in the early moments of the set, getting a trio of kills from Chase Hawkinson. A kill and a solo block by Meyer helped the Miners keep pace with Jamestown in the moments to follow, eventually taking 13-10 lead after an ace by Camden Seaver (Palatine, IL/William Fremd) along with kills by Johnwick and Sallade. Back-to-back kills by Sallade extended the S&T lead to 19-14 on a three-point run, but the Jimmies closed the gap, cutting the deficit to one at 21-20. A kill by Zachary Carff (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Dominic) and an ace by Grant Edmonds (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison) gave S&T three match points, getting the win on their third attempt and taking the final set 25-23.

Meyer's 13 kills led the team, with the senior hitting .393 on the afternoon. Seaver led the team in digs, setting a career high with 12. Edmonds added 34 assists.
