Baseball Adjusts Series Schedule vs Quincy; Ring Ceremony Set for Saturday

ROLLA, MO  --  Missouri S&T Baseball will host their first Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) series of the year this weekend, welcoming the Quincy Hawks to Rolla. The series will open with a doubleheader on Friday at 12pm, followed by a Saturday game at 12:15pm which will be preceded by the Championship Ring Ceremony at 11:45am. The series will conclude with a single game on Sunday at 12pm.
 
About the Miners

S&T has only faced Quincy once since the 2023 season, defeating the Hawks 7-6 at the GLVC Tournament last season en route to winning the championship. The Miners enter this weekend's series 6-8 and will look to start their conference season off with a series win over the Hawks.

The Miners are hitting .290 as a team, ranking them 7th in the conference. Bricen Smith's (Perry, GA/Mount de Sales Academy) .451 batting average leads the team, ranking him 4th in the conference and 47th in the country. Garrett Meyer (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville) leads the team in slugging with a .622 and is leading the team with 3 home runs and 5 doubles.

Jake Schisler (Quincy, IL/Quincy Notre Dame) is the team's leader in ERA with a 4.15, throwing 7 hitless innings this season. He leads the team for total strikeouts with 13, while Dylan Wipf's (Oak Park, IL/River Forest) 9 strikeouts in 4.2 innings is the highest strikeouts per inning on the team. Nate Donovan (Ballwin, MO/Parkway South) has pitched well in limited innings as well, holding opponents to a .200 batting average and striking out 10 in 7.1 innings on the mound.
 
 
About the Hawks
Quincy is 15-5 this season and have won 11 of their last 12 games. They have already begun their conference slate, sweeping Truman State last weekend in a series that ended with a 26-5 mercy rule for the Hawks.

The Hawks lead the GLVC in batting average, hitting at a mark of .357 that is 5th in NCAA Division II. Their 57 doubles are the 7th-most in the country, aiding in a .593 team slugging percentage that also ranks 5th nationally.

Quincy boasts four batters hitting above .400, led by Joe Huffman whose .459 average is second-best in the GLVC. Ben Dahlof and David Broughton are first and second in the conference for doubles, recording 10 and 9, respectively. Rocco Conrad holds the team's best ERA with a 3.33, earning National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Midwest Region Player of the Week after pitching a shutout against Truman.
