Owen Fraser Named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week

NEW ORLEANS, La. – Missouri S&T thrower Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) was named the USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week following a dominant performance at the Bearcat Invitational, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Fraser delivered a historic weekend in the throws, headlined by a mark of 19.37 meters (63-6.75) in the shot put to win the event and break his own Missouri S&T school record. The throw also met the NCAA Division II provisional standard and currently ranks No. 1 nationally in the shot put.

He capped the meet with another victory in the weight throw, recording a mark of 19.65 meters (64-5.75) to claim first place. That performance also met the Division II provisional standard and now ranks No. 20 nationally in the event.

Fraser's two event wins at the Bearcat Invitational and his national-leading mark in the shot put highlighted an outstanding weekend for the Miners and earned him national recognition as the top performer in Division II track and field.
