ROLLA, MO -- Missouri S&T Baseball received two honorees on the National Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Preseason Midwest Region First Team, with both Andrew Baugus and
Will Beckham (Mountain Home, AR/Mountain Home) being recognized. The team also garnered four votes in the preseason regional rankings, ranking them 12th in the release.
Baugus was named to the Preseason Midwest Region First Team as an outfielder, while Beckham was honored as a designated hitter. The two athletes led the Miners in batting average last season, with Baugus hitting .393 and Beckham averaging .371.
Baugus ended his 2025 campaign ranked 35th in the nation in on base percentage, leading the Miners with .511. He also ranked T-14th nationally for stolen bases, nabbing 38 in 42 attempts.
Conference games brought out the best in Beckham last season, landing him in the Great Lakes Valley Conference's top four for batting average (.430) and on base percentage (.531). He also ranked 8th in triples, recording three.
The Miners were voted 12th out of 14 teams that were received votes in the NCBWA preseason poll. They were one of six Great Lakes Valley Conference Teams named in the release, ranking behind Indianapolis, Illinois-Springfield, Maryville, Drury, and Lewis.
