PARKVILLE, MO — Missouri S&T Men's Volleyball is off to a historic start to their 2026 campaign, heading to Park University this Wednesday with a program-best 5-2 record.
About the Miners
S&T has picked up statement victories over #11 McKendree and Purdue Fort Wayne this year, upsetting the Bearcats in four sets over the weekend for the program's first win against a ranked opponent in school history. They are dominating the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) statistical leader boards, ranking first in kills, blocks, assists, and digs. Their 9.9 digs per set ranks 10th in the nation, while Bartosz Chmielewski's (Aurora, IL/Metea Valley) 2.4 per set rank him 12th individually in that category.
The Miners have claimed six of the first nine GLVC Player of the Week awards, with Grant Edmonds (Huntington Beach, CA/Edison) taking every Setter of the Week award this season. Edmonds' 10.3 assists per set are the ninth-most in the nation and two assists more than anyone else in the GLVC. The Miners have 8 individuals ranking in the top 25 for various statistics, including Tyler Johnwick (Lombard, IL/Glenbard East) 7th in hitting percentage (.453) and Nate Meyer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) 10th in kills per set (3.93) and 14th in points per set (4.52)
About the Pirates
Park University is undefeated this year, going 6-0 and only dropping three sets this season. They lead the NAIA in hitting percentage with .356, recording 261 kills this year. The Miners and Pirates have faced off the last two seasons, with Park winning both matches.
Adrian Figueroa leads the Pirates in kills per set, racking up 4.00 with a total of 69 this season. Mihailo Ivanovic and Moises Ortiz headline a solid front row that has totaled 49.5 blocks this season, with both athletes recording 17 apiece.
