ROLLA, MO -- Men's Basketball is hosting Lincoln on Thursday for Pinkout/Pickaxe Platoon Rewards Golf Champions Sticker night. On Saturday they welcome the Drury Panthers for Senior Day. The senior day ceremony will take place between the men's and women's games, while the cheer seniors will be recognized at halftime of the men's game.
About the Miners
The Miners have already clinched a postseason berth in the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament (GLVC) and will look to improve their seeding in games against Lincoln and Drury this week. S&T snapped a three-game skid last week, defeating Southwest Baptist 84-75 on Military Appreciation Day and improved to 18-7 on the year with a 12-6 record against conference opponents.
Andrew Young (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) leads the Miners in scoring with 16.4 points per game, receiving national recognition on multiple award watchlists.
Blaise Beauchamp (Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins) has had a stellar in-conference slate, averaging 17.2 points per game against GLVC teams to rank 8th in the conference. Young is averaging 1.4 blocks per conference game, the second-most in the GLVC, and recorded three blocks in each of his last two games.
About the Blue Tigers
Lincoln is 11-16 with a 5-14 GLVC record. The Blue Tigers will not be defending their 2024-25 GLVC Tournament title, having just one game left on their schedule. They have lost three of their last four games, including a 74-60 overtime loss to William Jewell last Thursday night.
Solomon Oraegbu is Lincoln's leading scorer, averaging 19.9 points per game, but much of that came in non-conference contests. Tyler Chapman has been the Blue Tigers top scorer in conference games, putting up 14.5 points per game. Max Okono and Matthieu Biembongo have stood out in the GLVC as well, ranking second in rebounds per game (9.0) and first in blocks per game (1.8), respectively.
About the Panthers
The Panthers fell to S&T on a tip-in during the final minute of play early this season, resulting in an 81-79 victory for the Miners back in early January. Drury has split their last four games, taking them to an even 13-13 season record and an 8-10 GLVC record that has them fighting for the final spot in the conference tournament.
Zach Howell's 17.9 points per game in conference contests leads the Panthers and ranks him fifth in the GLVC for scoring. Kevin Sargeant joins Young and Biembongo as one of the top blockers in the leage, averaging 1.3 blocks per game and ranking third while Colin Hardrick leads the GLVC in assist/turnover ratio at 2.6.
What's Next
Having already secured a spot in the GLVC championships, the Miners will be set to compete in the tournament from March 5th-8th at Missouri-St. Louis.
