ROLLA, MO  --  Missouri S&T Men's Volleyball Head Coach Ryan Thompson has been named Staff of the Week by Volleyball Recap. The honor comes after a week where the Miners took down the 11th-ranked McKendree Bearcats in four sets on Friday night.

The Miners dropped the first set against McKendree 25-16, but Thompson coached his team to a comeback victory in the second set, erasing a four-point deficit to even the match. They followed that up by a 6-0 run in the third set to go ahead and never looked back, taking that set 25-22 before winning the match in set four on a 6-2 scoring run.

Seven matches into Coach Thompson's third season at the helm has the Miners enjoying their best start in program history, going 5-2 with upset victories over MIVA opponents #11 McKendree and Purdue Fort-Wayne, the latter now receiving votes in the AVCA poll. The Miners have set 10 other program records this season, with five individual records and five team records.
