Miners Open Rosemont Dome Invite with Dominant Doubleheader Sweep

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Missouri S&T softball opened play at the Rosemont Dome Invite in commanding fashion on Wednesday, sweeping a pair of contests with a 13–3 win over Purdue Northwest followed by a 9–1 victory against Wisconsin-Parkside.

Game One: Missouri S&T 13, Purdue Northwest 3
The Miners wasted no time getting on the board in the opener, as Taylor Nelson (Hailey, ID/Phillips Exeter Academy) doubled in the first inning to plate the game's first run. After Purdue Northwest briefly grabbed a 2-1 lead in the bottom half of the frame, S&T responded quickly, tying the game in the second on a Claire Lopez (Olathe, KS/Olathe Northwest) RBI single before taking control for good in the third.

Morgan Williams delivered a two-run single to give the Miners a 4-2 edge, and S&T never looked back. The offense added three runs in the fifth, highlighted by Nelson's two-run homer to left field. The Miners showcased patience at the plate throughout the game, drawing 11 walks and swiping four bases while turning two double plays defensively.

AJ Agers (DeSoto, MO/St. Pius X) earned the win in the circle, allowing three runs (one earned) over five innings with three strikeouts. Beecham added a scoreless inning of relief.

Game Two: Missouri S&T 9, Wisconsin-Parkside 1
S&T carried its momentum into the nightcap, breaking the game open with a seven-run fourth inning en route to a 9-1 victory. The Miners opened the scoring in the first when Kaylee LaChappell (Oswego, IL/Oswego) drew a bases-loaded walk, and after Parkside tied the contest in the second, S&T regained the lead on an Agers groundout.

The fourth inning proved decisive, as the Miners capitalized on timely hitting and plate discipline. Agers drove in two runs with a single, Fitzgerald and LaChappell each added RBI singles, and the Miners drew key walks to extend the inning. In total, S&T collected nine walks in the game and finished with a 7-hit, 9-run performance.

Mia Miller earned the win in the circle, allowing one run over five innings with four strikeouts. Defensively, the Miners were flawless, committing no errors and turning a double play behind strong infield play.
