ROLLA, MO -- Missouri S&T Baseball is ready to being their defense of their 2025 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Championship, beginning with Wayne State College this Sunday and Monday.
About the Miners
Missouri S&T won their first GLVC championship in program history last year, taking the long road through the bottom half of the bracket and winning five games in a row to survive elimination and claim the title. The team is returning some of the top hitters and fielders, with Andrew Baugus and
Will Beckham (Mountain Home, AR/Mountain Home) headlining that group. The pair of outfielders both earned Preseason All-Midwest Region Team honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). S&T has a 47-game season ahead of them with eight GLVC series on the docket, with conference play beginning with a series against Quincy on March 13th.
About the Wildcats
Wayne State has already played their season opener, having traveled to Hawaii last weekend where they defeated Hawaii at Hilo in three out of four games. They were picked fourth in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference preseason poll, garnering 154 points and landing behind St. Cloud State, Augustana, and top-voted Minnesota State. Junior outfielder Max Heard was named player to watch for the Wildcats after hitting .286 last year with 49 runs batted in. Senior righty pitcher Braden Cannon is the team's top pitcher, coming off a 2025 campaign where he recorded 20 strikeouts and allowed a 2.61 ERA.
