Agers Tosses No-Hitter as Miners Sweep Thomas More at UIS Dome

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Missouri S&T softball earned a doubleheader sweep over Thomas More University on Thursday at the UIS Dome Invite, winning 1–0 in dramatic fashion before taking the nightcap 4–1. The Miners were flawless defensively in both contests and improved their early-season momentum with the pair of victories.

Game 1: Missouri S&T 1, Thomas More 0
AJ Agers (DeSoto, MO/St. Pius X) delivered a historic performance in the opener, throwing a no-hitter to lead the Miners to a 1–0 victory. It marks the first no-hitter by a Missouri S&T pitcher since Jen O'Hara accomplished the feat in 2009. Agers sealed the win by inducing a groundout to end the game, capping off a dominant outing in the circle.

The Miners secured the victory in dramatic fashion with a walk-off double, finishing with 10 hits on the day. Trista Grobe (DeSoto, MO/DeSoto) went 2-for-4 and drove in the lone run, while Molly Fitzgerald led the offense with three hits. Missouri S&T played clean defense, committing no errors, with Grobe recording a team-high seven chances in the field.

Game 2: Missouri S&T 4, Thomas More 1
Missouri S&T carried its momentum into game two, opening the scoring in the first inning when Grobe doubled to drive in two runs. The Miners continued to apply pressure offensively, finishing with 11 hits in the contest.

Mia Miller (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) earned the win in the circle, tossing a complete game while allowing just one unearned run on five hits and striking out seven without issuing a walk. Grobe again led the offense, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Claire Lopez (Olathe, KS/Olathe Northwest) also collected three hits and Tori Thompson (Chandler, AZ/Basha) added two. The Miners once again were flawless defensively, not committing a single error.

Behind dominant pitching, timely hitting, and clean defense, Missouri S&T completed the sweep in Springfield.
