Women's Basketball Stays Competitive but Drops Tight Contest to Truman State

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T women's basketball battled throughout but came up short in a 69-62 loss to Truman State on Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play at Gibson Arena.

The Miners (6-5, 2-3 GLVC) stayed within striking distance for most of the contest and trimmed the deficit to four points late in the fourth quarter, but Truman State was able to seal the game at the free-throw line in the final minute.

Norah Gum (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) led Missouri S&T with 15 points and six rebounds, while Ava McCulla (St. Louis, MO/Parkway South) provided a strong presence in the paint with 14 points on 7-of-14 shooting. Anna Finley (Owensville, MO/Owensville) added 10 points, knocking down a pair of three-pointers, and Adriana Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) chipped in eight points, four rebounds, and three steals off the bench.

The Miners controlled the glass, outrebounding the Bulldogs 43-35, and scored 42 points in the paint. Missouri S&T also received solid contributions from its bench, which accounted for 28 points on the afternoon.

What's Next
Missouri S&T returns to conference action on Thursday, Jan. 8, traveling to Springfield, Mo., to take on Drury with tipoff set for 5:45 p.m.
