He holds the basketball above his head with both arms fully extended, focused on the basket. A defender in a white uniform jumps in front of him with arms raised in an attempt to block the shot. Miners Falter in Second Half Against UIndy

INDIANAPOLIS, IN  --  Missouri S&T Men's Basketball fell to the Indianapolis Greyhounds 72-61 on Thursday night. The Miners move to 13-4 on the season and 7-3 in conference play.

Threes from Blaise Beauchamp (Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins) and Cameron Stovall (St. Louis, MO/Vashon) helped give the Miners the early lead at 13-7 before consecutive triples from Indy tied the game less than two minutes later. The Greyhounds would pull ahead, leading by as many as six with just under ten minutes left in the first half. Two more three-pointers for the Miners, this time from Beauchamp and Alex Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit), started a 14-2 S&T run, giving the Miners a 29-23 lead with 5:10 remaining in the first half. UIndy responded with a 14-4 run to close the half, entering halftime ahead of the Miners 37-33.

The Greyhounds went on another 14-4 run to begin the second half, putting them up by a game-high 24 points with 9:22 left. Garrett Hines (Nixa, MO/Nixa) and DJ Johnson Jr. (St. Louis, MO/John Burroughs) each hit a pair of threes down the stretch, cutting the deficit to 8 at 69-61, but the Greyhounds managed to fend off the late surge to win 72-61.

The Miners shot 40.7% from the three, their third-highest percentage from long range this season, and hit a season-high 11 triples in the game. Stovall and Benassi tied for the team lead in points tonight, each scoring 11. Stovall also led the team in rebounds with 7, his most in a conference game since Lincoln on December 1st. Johnson and Zach Mazanowski (Chicago, IL/Lane Tech) both saw their first action in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest, with Johnson scoring a career-high of six after a pair of three-pointers.
