Third-Quarter Surge Lifts Miners Past William Jewell in GLVC Home Opener

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T women's basketball opened Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) home play in strong fashion Friday night, pulling away in the second half to secure a 67-47 victory over William Jewell at Gibson Arena.

The Miners (6-4, 2-2 GLVC) turned a tight first half into a decisive win with a dominant third quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 26-4 to seize control of the game. After heading into halftime with a narrow 29-29 tie, S&T's defense locked in and the offense found its rhythm, building a double-digit lead that it would not relinquish.

Savannah Campbell (Rolla, MO/Rolla) led the Miners with 16 points and seven rebounds, converting eight free throws and anchoring S&T's presence in the paint. Norah Gum (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) followed with 13 points and eight rebounds, while Anna Finley (Owensville, MO/Owensville) added nine points and provided a spark during the pivotal third-quarter run. Ava McCulla (St. Louis, MO/Parkway South) chipped in eight points and four rebounds off the bench.

Missouri S&T controlled the glass throughout the night, outrebounding William Jewell 45-39 and turning 16 offensive rebounds into 18 second-chance points. The Miners also forced 21 turnovers and capitalized with 24 points off turnovers, using defensive pressure to fuel their transition offense.
