Benassi Earns Career First GLVC Offensive Player of the Week

Rolla, Mo. - Adriana Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit), who scored a goal in each of Missouri S&T's wins over Christian Brothers and Pittsburg State this past week, has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Offensive Player of the Week.

Against the Buccaneers, Benassi started the game off strong, assisting on goals by Jenna Marti (Sammamish, WA/Eastside Catholic)n and Lily Simpson (Lexington, KY/Lafayette) at the 7:38 and 29:30 marks, respectively. The sophomore forward then scored her first goal of the season at the 57:07 mark, helping the Miners defeat Christian Brothers with a score of 4-0.

On Sunday, the Miners defeated the Gorillas with a final score of 3-1, notching three goals within 12 minutes. Benassi started the second half strong, scoring the game-winning goal at the 56:05 mark with an assist from Ella Kramer (Liberty, MO/Liberty North). Benassi finished the game with a .500 shooting percentage.

Benassi earns her first-ever career GLVC Offensive Player of the Week, securing the Miners' first player of the week honor from the conference this season.

Missouri S&T improved to 2-0 on the year with the undefeated week and will return to action this Friday, September 12th, at home with a 5 p.m. matchup against Missouri Western.
