Women’s Volleyball Pushes Peacocks in GLVC Opener

FAYETTE, Iowa -- Missouri S&T women's volleyball battled to the wire in each set Friday night but fell 3-0 to Upper Iowa in its Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) opener.

The Miners pushed the Peacocks in a series of tight frames, dropping 25-22, 25-22, and 25-23 decisions. S&T's offense found balance, led by Elly Decker (Manhattan, IL/Lincoln Way West), who paced the team with 11 kills while adding seven digs. Addie Schoenberger (Menomonee Falls, WI/Hamilton Sussex) and Kate Zipprich (Hardin, IL/Calhoun) chipped in six kills apiece to keep the Miners within striking distance in each set.

Defensively, the Miners were anchored by Lexi Kosmopolis (O'Fallon, IL/Newsome), who recorded a team-high 12 digs in the back row. At the net, Avery Patton (Lathrop, MO/Truman) contributed four block assists, while Schoenberger added five of her own. Annie Arand (Washington, MO/St. Francis Borgia) directed the attack with 17 assists, while Elise Mehaffy (Marion, IA/Marion) added nine assists and three service aces. Selin Ozdemir (Ankara, Turkey/TED Ankara Koleji) rounded out the scoring with six kills and two aces.

What's Next
Missouri S&T will continue GLVC play on the road Saturday, September 27, with a 6 p.m. matchup at Truman State.
