Men’s Soccer Continues GLVC Play Against UMSL, Maryville at Home

ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri S&T men's soccer is set to continue Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play this weekend as the Miners host Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, September 26, at 7:30 p.m. and Maryville on Sunday, September 28, at 2:30 p.m. at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.

About the Miners
S&T enters the weekend 1-1 in GLVC play and 3-1-1 overall after earning a thrilling 3-2 victory over Drury in its conference home opener. The Miners rallied from a goal down in the second half, as Jake Salazar-Blair (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) scored the equalizer in the 83rd minute before Brendan Owens (St. Louis, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) delivered the game-winner less than five minutes later. Joseph Sommer (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) netted the opening goal in the first half, while assists came from Sam Bresette (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit), Joao Vieira (Punta del Este, Uruguay/International College), and Zyon Makoul (Trinidad & Tobago/Presentation College). As a team, the Miners rank second in the GLVC in assists and third in goals.

About the Tritons
Missouri-St. Louis enters Friday's contest at 1-0-2 in GLVC play and 1-1-3 overall. Tommy Wortham and Alexander Ramirez Aoueiss pace the Tritons' attack with two goals each. Last season, the Miners and Tritons played to a 1-1 draw.

About the Saints
Maryville comes to Rolla on Sunday with a 2-1 GLVC record and a 3-2-1 overall mark before facing Drury on Friday. The Saints are led by Sebastian Weitlaner, who has scored six goals through the first six matches. The Miners defeated the Saints 1-0 last season, with returner Mike Banasik (Loekkegade, Denmark/Hjoering Gymnasium) providing the lone goal.
