Women's Soccer Drops Tight Contest to Griffons Ahead of GLVC Opener

ROLLA, Mo. - Missouri S&T suffered its first loss of the 2025 season Tuesday night, falling 2‑1 to visiting Missouri Western at Allgood‑Bailey Stadium. The Miners struck first but couldn't hold off the Griffons, who netted the game-winner in the 72nd minute. S&T now sits at 2‑1‑0 on the year, going into Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play.

Adriana Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) gave the Miners an early 1‑0 lead with a clean finish at the 24:18 mark, continuing her strong start to the season with her third goal in as many games. However, the Griffons responded with goals in the 30th and 72nd minutes to take a 2‑1 lead. The Miners held a slight edge in corner kicks, earning six to Missouri Western's five. 

Despite the loss, S&T's defensive unit held Missouri Western scoreless for much of the second half until the decisive 72nd-minute strike. S&T goalkeepers Anastasia Barcom (St. Louis, MO/Rosati-Kain) and Madeline Falls (Gilbert, AZ/Benjamin Franklin Charter) combined for 7 saves

What's Next
Missouri S&T will look to bounce back from the narrow defeat when it returns to action on Sunday, September 14, opening its conference slate against GLVC foe Lincoln.
