GLVC OTF Day 3 Recap: Three Event Winners for S&T; Fraser Named Field Athlete of the Year

ROMEOVILLE, IL  --  The Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships concluded today, resulting in a third place finish for the S&T men while the women took fifth. Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) was honored as the Field Athlete of the Year after earning all-conference in all three of his events, winning both the discus and the shot. Jake Salazar-Blair (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) was the only other Miner to win an event, taking the javelin earlier today with a mark of 58.60.

Fraser finished strong in his final event of the championships today, throwing 17.05m in the shot put to win his second event of the meet and another provisional mark in the event. Crouch earned all-conference with a second place finish in the event, throwing 16.03m. Madelaine Fischer () and Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) both finished in the top ten for the discus throw. Fischer's personal best 42.46m earned her fourth place while Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) took 10th with a mark of 40.78m.

Olivia Henkel (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) and Vince Scott (Gilberts, IL/Hampshire) both earned all-conference in the jumps. Henkel's 1.62m performance earned her second place in the high jump, while Scott's personal best 14.37 in the triple placed him third. Scott was joined in the top ten by seniors Justin Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood) and Tristan Jones (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro), with the latter recording a personal best of 13.91m. Luke Bass (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) and Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) were the only other top ten finishers in jumps today, with Bass taking 9th in the high jump and Smith earning 5th in the triple.

The Miners had five in the top 10 for the men's javelin. Salazar-Blair and fellow freshman Nolan Sebourn (Eureka, MO/Eureka) finished first and second in the event to earn all-conference, with the former's throw earning him his first career provisional mark. Meanwhile, Justis Braden (Liberty, MO/Liberty North), Matthew Hoffman (Reading, PA/Exeter Township), and Landon Oelschlaeger (Ballwin, MO/Lafayette) took sixth, eighth, and tenth.

Sam Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro), Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro), and Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) rounded out S&T's all-conference performances on the day, with the Born earning two all-GLVC honors with a second place finish in the 5000m and a third place finish in the 1500m. S. Wright took second in the 400H with a final time of 53.73, while M. Wright's PB time of 14.61 in the 100H earned her third. M. Wright's time in the 100H is also the fifth fastest in school history.

Isaac Pollard (Lindale, TX/Lindale) and Ali McClure (St. Louis, MO/Kirkwood) were named S&T's receipients of the James R. Spalding sportsmanship honor.

What's Next
The NCAA Championships will take place later this month on May 22nd through 24th.
