ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Baseball is back on the road to play Pittsburg State on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Series History
The Gorillas are 40-15 all-time against the Miners going back to 1991. These two teams last faced in the 2023 season, where they split two games. S&T won in Pittsburg 13-7, while Pittsburg State won in Rolla 14-3.
About the Gorillas
Pittsburg State is 11-3 this season and 3-3 in MIAA play. In their latest series at #4 Central Missouri, the Gorillas lost the first two games but won game three 7-4. Austin Warkins tallied three RBI for Pitt State in that game. The Gorillas are 5-0 against GLVC teams this year with a 4-0 sweep over Truman and one victory against Rockhurst. Pittsburg State was picked to finish in third place in the MIAA this season.
Rickey Sanchez leads the Gorillas with a .442 batting average and 23 hits this season. Dagen Brewer has nine doubles and five home runs for Pittsburg State in 13 games played. Kolby Dougan leads all starters with a 1.44 ERA and a 0.64 WHIP. He has struck out 46 batters in 25 innings pitched this season.
About the Miners
Missouri S&T is coming off a slugfest series against Truman where they won all four games and outscored the Bulldogs 45-4. Since last Monday, the Miners have gone 6-1 to improve their season record to 6-2. In their final 14-3 win over Truman on Sunday,
Tyler Bizzle (Festus, MO/Festus) drove in three runs, while
Nick Hooper (Grain Valley, MO/Grain Valley) picked up two hits, three walks and three runs scored. The Miners were tabbed at 10
th place in the GLVC Preseason Poll.
Through eight contests,
Bricen Smith (Perry, GA/Mount de Sales Academy) leads S&T with a .429 batting average.
Tyler Prince (Mexico, MO/Mexico) has a 1.403 OPS with his four doubles, one triple and one homer. The Miners have seven players hitting .300 or above.
Estin McBroom (Monett, MO/Monett) and
Andrew Hedgecorth (Smithville, MO/Smithville) both have a 0.00 ERA in two games for S&T so far.
Jake Schisler (Quincy, IL/Quincy Notre Dame) has a 0.82 ERA and
Dylan Bates (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West) has recorded a 1.69 ERA. Those marks are all in the top six in the GLVC early in the 2025 season.

What's Next
The Miners will welcome Missouri-St. Louis this weekend to open GLVC play. The first game is slated for Mar. 7 at 2 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Mar. 8 at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. The series finale is scheduled for Mar. 9 at 12 p.m. After that game, S&T will play Harding on Mar. 11 at 3 p.m.
