SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Missouri S&T Women's Basketball fell to Drury 59-68 on Saturday to close out the 2024-25 regular season.
Drury won the first quarter 18-11 over Missouri S&T.
Morgan Luebbering (St. Thomas, MO/Fatima) had the first four points for S&T as they led 4-3 early. Following four points from Drury,
Anna Finley (Owensville, MO/Owensville) drained a three-pointer midway through the quarter. The Panthers went on an 11-4 run to end the quarter and lead 18-11 through 10 minutes.
The Miners responded in the second quarter as they won it 16-9 to tie the game at 27-27. Drury went out to a 12-point lead at the beginning of the quarter. S&T went on a 16-2 run to give the Miners a two-point lead with 42 seconds left. Rhi Gibbson put in a jumper to make the score 27-27 at halftime.
In the third quarter, Drury outscored S&T 19-14 to take a 46-41 lead with 10 minutes left.
Bonnie Lew Ludlow (Indianapolis, IN/Covenant Christian) gave S&T a lead with a jumper midway through the quarter. A 7-0 run guided the Panthers to a 41-35 lead. Finley cut it to four points with 3:03 left before the Panthers took a 46-41 lead at the end of the third quarter.
The Panthers won the game 68-59 with their 22 points scored in the fourth quarter. Ludlow made it a five-point game at the start of the quarter until Drury recorded an 11-0 run.
Addyson Kent (North Vernon, IN/Jennings County) landed a three-pointer but was answered by Makaiya Brooks' three-point shot. S&T recorded a 12-0 run to make the score 58-62 with 1:45 left. The Panthers went on a 6-1 run to end the game as they won 68-59.
Finley had 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and one steal for the Miners.
Katelynne Roberts (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) tallied 11 points with five rebounds, three blocks and two assists.
Norah Gum (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) was one point shy of a double-double with her 11 rebounds and nine points.
S&T shot 36.5% from the field and 4-for-19 from three-point range. In a game filled with eight lead changes and three ties, the Miners recorded 34 points in the paint and 15 points off turnovers. The team had 41 rebounds and four blocks against Drury.
This game concluded the 2024-25 regular season for the Miners. They finished 15-11 overall and 10-10 in the GLVC. At Gibson Arena, they went 10-5. It is the first time since the 2011-12 season that S&T has recorded 10 wins at home. They will go into the GLVC Tournament as the sixth seed and will play Quincy in the quarterfinals.
What's Next
The Miners will take on #3 Quincy on Friday night at 8:15 p.m. in the first round of the GLVC Tournament at Hyland Arena. The winner will play on Saturday at 8:15 p.m. against the winner of the Drury and Upper Iowa contest. The finals are on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
