Women’s Basketball Starts Conference Slate with 55–48 Win Over Lincoln

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri S&T women's basketball opened Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) play with a strong road win Monday night, defeating Lincoln 55-48 at Jason Gym.

The Miners (3-2, 1-0 GLVC) controlled the game from the opening tip, holding Lincoln to single digits in each of the first two quarters while building a 29-17 halftime lead. S&T's defensive effort proved decisive, forcing 20 turnovers and limiting the Blue Tigers to just 22 percent shooting from the field.

Norah Gum (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) led the Miners with 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting, knocking down a three and going a perfect 3-for-3 at the free-throw line. The junior added two rebounds and a steal in 28 minutes of action.

Anna Gilbertson (Lake Zurich, IL/Lake Zurich) and Ava McCulla (St. Louis, MO/Parkway South) added steady scoring inside, posting eight points each while combining for five rebounds. Morgan Luebbering (St. Thomas, MO/Fatima) and Savannah Campbell (Rolla, MO/Rolla) each delivered strong minutes off the bench, both finishing with seven points. Campbell added five rebounds and went 7-for-8 at the line, while Luebbering knocked down one of S&T's two threes and pulled down five boards.

Adriana Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) provided a major defensive spark, grabbing a team-high seven rebounds and recording four steals, helping S&T win the battle on the glass 48-43, including 18 offensive rebounds that produced 12 second-chance points.

Despite Lincoln cutting the deficit to as little as two midway through the fourth, the Miners responded with timely baskets from Gum and Gilbertson to keep control. S&T closed the game, knocking down all four free throws in the final minute to secure the win.
