Miners Roll Past Cottey in Dominant Home Opener

ROLLA, Mo. — Missouri S&T women's basketball delivered a statement performance in its 2025–26 home opener, surging past Cottey 83–35 on Wednesday afternoon at Gibson Arena.

The Miners (2–2) controlled the game from start to finish, shooting 50.7% from the field and generating 46 points in the paint, while holding the Comets to just 24% shooting. S&T's depth and pressure overwhelmed Cottey as the Miners outscored the Comets 22–5 in the third quarter and 26–6 in the fourth.

Ten different Miners scored, with Ava McCulla (St. Louis, MO/Parkway South) pacing the group with 12 points and eight rebounds, showcasing her dominance inside. Kiarra Kilgore (Galesburg, IL/Galesburg) and Morgan Luebbering (St. Thomas, MO/Fatima) each added nine points, while Megan Aulbert (Lake St. Louis, MO/Lutheran) and Macy Marraccini (Broken Arrow, OK/Broken Arrow) provided key sparks off the bench.

Anna Gilbertson (Lake Zurich, IL/Lake Zurich) was sharp early, scoring seven points in just six minutes, while Norah Gum (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) contributed eight points and four assists to help orchestrate the offense.

As a team, S&T racked up 25 second-chance points thanks to 20 offensive rebounds, a major factor in the win. Missouri S&T's defense matched the energy. The Miners forced 16 turnovers, scoring 15 points off Cottey miscues, and held the Comets to single-digit scoring in the final two quarters.
