Rolla, Mo. – Missouri S&T women's soccer returns to Allgood-Bailey Stadium this weekend for a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference matchups. The Miners will host UIndy on Friday, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m. before taking on Lewis on Sunday, Oct. 12, at noon. Friday's match will be a Pink Out, and scarves will be sold for $10, with all proceeds benefiting breast cancer awareness.
About the Miners
The Miners (4-4-1, 2-3-1 GLVC) head into the weekend coming off a strong road performance, earning a split against McKendree and Illinois Springfield.
On Friday, S&T fell 1-0 to undefeated McKendree despite a strong second half where the Miners outshot the Bearcats 12-9 and earned six corner kicks. Goalkeeper Anastasia Barcom (St. Louis, MO/Rosati-Kain) recorded five saves, and Lily Simpson (Lexington, KY/Lafayette) nearly equalized in the 72nd minute with a penalty kick that was turned away
S&T rebounded two days later with a convincing 2-0 win at UIS. Adriana Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) opened the scoring in the 17th minute and assisted Allie Workman's (Olathe, KS/Olathe North) goal just 85 seconds later. Barcom posted her second shutout of the season while Greycen Erisman (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit West) and Melissa Parker (Chesterfield, MO/Marquette) helped the Miners control possession throughout the match.
Offensively, the Miners rank among the top five in the GLVC in both shots and goals scored. Benassi stands third in the conference in assists, averaging 0.44 per game, and seventh in goals with five on the season.
About the Greyhounds
UIndy (1-5-3, 1-4-2 GLVC) enters the weekend looking to regain form after splitting its recent home stand. The Greyhounds picked up their first conference victory of the season on Friday, defeating Southwest Baptist 2-1 at Key Stadium. Alexandra Dobbs scored the equalizer in the 28th minute, while Izzie Wallace netted the go-ahead goal in the 42nd off a setup from Hannah Magruder. Goalkeeper Kendall Ellis earned the win with five saves
Two days later, UIndy fell 3-0 to Drury despite a busy effort from Ellis, who made six stops to keep the Greyhounds in striking distance. Dobbs recorded a shot on goal as UIndy finished with six total attempts
UIndy ranks sixth in the GLVC in saves, averaging 4.56 per game. Ellis individually ranks sixth in the league in saves per game with a 4.50 average.
About the Flyers
Lewis (4-1-4, 3-1-2 GLVC) comes into the weekend unbeaten in its last three matches after taking four points at home. The Flyers battled Rockhurst to a 1-1 draw on Friday behind an early goal from Anna Dazey, assisted by Cosa Bella Milazzo
On Sunday, Lewis secured a 2-1 win over Southwest Baptist, powered by goals from Reese Capion and Morgan Krupp. The Flyers dominated offensively with a 20-6 shot advantage and six corner kicks, while Josie Graziosi tallied two saves in net
Lewis ranks third in the GLVC in goals, averaging 2.0 per game, and fourth in shots with 14.33 per game.
