Men's Basketball Unanimously Selected to Repeat as GLVC Champions in Preseason Poll

10/21/2025 1:00:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS, IN  --  Missouri S&T Men's Basketball has been unanimously voted to repeat as Great Lakes Valley Conference champions in the 2025-26 preseason poll. The Miners received 196 votes in the poll and all 14 first-place votes from their fellow schools in the GLVC.

The Miners are coming off a historic 2024-25 season that is one of the best in school history. The team went 25-6 last year, claiming the GLVC Regular Season title with a 17-3 conference record. The Miners rose as high as #5 in the national polls and ended the season #1 in the region to earn the right to host the Midwest Regional. They reached the semifinals at both the GLVC Tournament and the Midwest Regional.

S&T was not short on accolades last year, getting five All-Conference recognitions, as well as Coach of the Year for Bill Walker. The awards extended to the region as well, with both Andrew Young (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) and Lovell Williams (Rogers, MN/Maple Grove) earning All-Region while Walker was Midwest Region Coach of the Year.

The Miners will be without Williams and Ryan Sroka (Lake in the Hills, IL/Huntley), two key pieces of last season's success, but are returning key starters in Young, Alex Benassi (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit), and Cam Stovall. Zac Brown (Collinsville, OK/Collinsville), a 2024-25 GLVC All-Freshman team honoree, and Aidan Burns (Thayer, MO/Thayer) are just two members of a stacked '24-'25 freshman class that is expected to contribute heavily during their sophomore season. New and previous transfers Darron "Boodah" Henry and Blaise Beauchamp (Minnetonka, MN/Hopkins) will also be two names to watch, with Beauchamp looking to build on a strong first season with the Miners where he led the team in 3-pointers.
