ROLLA, MO -- The Miners have moved up to ninth in the nation in the newest edition of the National Association of Basketball Coaches poll. This is their second highest ranking in school history, with the highest being eighth in 1995-96.
The Miners added a pair of big wins last week against Great Lakes Valley Conference opponents, taking down Maryville by 10 and beating the Missouri-St. Louis Tritons on a last second layup.
Andrew Young (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) played a key role in both victories, recording a total of 43 points, a 66.6% field goal percentage, 17 rebounds, 8 assists, and 2 blocks between the two contests.
Lovell Williams (Rogers, MN/Maple Grove) also performed well last week, putting up 34 points and 4 blocks.
The Miners are also ranked in the Division II College Sports Communicators poll at #15 in the nation and #3 in their region.
What's Next
The Miners face Illinois Springfield and McKendree this week in a pair of away games on Thursday and Saturday.
