ROLLA, Mo. -- Missouri S&T dropped Drury 90-74 tonight, improving to a program-best 11-1 record through their first twelve games.
The Miners and Panthers traded buckets early in the game, leading to a 12-12 tie about six minutes into the contest. S&T would take a slim lead at 16-12 but eventually put together a nine-point run to go up 27-16. The Panthers would prevent the Miners from leading by more than 10 points in the first half, cutting the deficit to five points before the break.
Andrew Young (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) and Ryan Sroka (Lake in the Hills, IL/Huntley) combined for 15 points in the opening 7 minutes of the second half, helping S&T stretch their lead to 14. Drury would stay close for the next few minutes, but S&T went on a 7-0 run to pull ahead 75-56, their largest lead of the game at 19 points. The Miners successfully fended off any attempts by the Panthers down the stretch, never allowing them to get within 14 and holding on to win 90-74.
S&T had four players score in double digits, with Lovell Williams (Rogers, MN/Maple Grove) leading the way with 16.
