Miners Fall to #10 Team in Midwest Region

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.  --  S&T fell to the Drury Panthers 2-0 this afternoon, making it their first loss against a GLVC opponent this season. Anastasia Barcom (St. Louis, MO/Rosati-Kain) tied her career-high for saves in a match with 8.

The Miners never got much of a chance offensively in today's match, as the Panthers out-possessed S&T 2 to 1. The Miners only took 2 shots all game, while the Panthers took 26... including 18 in the second half.

The first half was the more competitive of the two, with S&T only being down 2 shots to 1 in the first 20 minutes before Drury's Tara Simon gave the Panthers their first goal of the day. They proceeded to dominate the last 22 minutes of the half, pressuring S&T's defense and getting another 4 shots.

The second half began much like the first one ended, with Drury pressuring the S&T defense, getting 6 shots off in 8 minutes. S&T would get their second and final shot of the day in the 63rd minute with an attempt by Ava Hoenes (Columbia, MO/Hickman) being saved by Drury's goalie.

The Panthers would extend their lead to 2-0 in the 67th minute with a goal by Leah McDonald and hold on to win the game.
