EDMOND, Okla. – After falling to Central Missouri Friday evening, Missouri S&T's two scheduled contests Saturday at the Raising Canes Classic were cancelled on account of cold weather.
The Miners are scheduled to play Washburn Sunday at 10 a.m. and Arkansas Tech at 12:30 p.m. – with better weather expected on Sunday – then will play a doubleheader Monday against Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla., at 1 p.m. to make up for the two lost games on Saturday. S&T was scheduled to face the River Hawks in its first game on Saturday.
FRIDAY'S GAME: Central Missouri 8, Miners 5
After a scoreless opening inning, the Jennies scored twice in the second off S&T starter
Mayce Barber (Excelsior Springs, Mo./Excelsior Springs) to take the lead. The Miners, however, knotted up the contest in the third on
Bryn Wooldridge's (Salisbury, Mo./Salisbury) two-out single that brought in
Isabella Welton (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West) and
Peyton Dillon (Yorkville, Ill./Rosary).
Central regained the lead in the fourth on a two-run single by Lexi Blackmon and tacked on a third run in the frame when an error allowed Blackmon to score. The Jennies took a 6-2 lead in the fifth when they scored another unearned run.
S&T trimmed the lead by a run in the sixth on a run-scoring double by
Sydney Anderson (Elkhart, IA/North Polk), but left the bases loaded in the inning. Central scored twice in the seventh before the Miners got two themselves, the first coming when Wooldridge scored on a throwing error and the other when
Alyssa Haile (St. Peters, MO/Francis Howell Central) scored on a passed ball.
The Miners outhit the Jennies 6-5 in the contest – Wooldridge had two of S&T's six hits.
