ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Women's Basketball ended non-conference play with an 85-27 win over Eureka on Saturday.
The Red Devils started the game with an early 5-0 lead, but the Miners responded with a 6-0 run with two three-pointers from
Addyson Kent (North Vernon, IN/Jennings County). S&T ended the first quarter on a 14-1 run to take a 22-9 lead.
The Miners outscored the Red Devils in the second quarter 20-4 to go up 44-13 at halftime. Kent drained another three-pointer to start the quarter before
Kiarra Kilgore (Galesburg, IL/Galesburg) put in a layup. Going into halftime, the Miners were on a 15-0 run.
Ava Maner (Rogers, AR/Providence Academy) had four points in that run.
S&T outscored Eureka 16-9 in the third quarter. Going back to the second quarter, the Miners had a 26-3 run.
Katelynne Roberts (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) put in two buckets in the third quarter for S&T. They picked up another 8-0 run at the end of the quarter.
They ended the game with a final score of 85-27 after a 24-8 fourth quarter.
Lilli Machado (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell) picked up four points in under a minute for the Miners. S&T drained two three-pointers in a row with two from
Adrianne Tolen (West Lafayette, IN/West Lafayette) and one from
Addison Hopkins (Columbia, MO/Rock Bridge).
Roberts, Kilgore and
Morgan Luebbering (St. Thomas, MO/Fatima) all had a team-high 10 points for S&T. Kent and Tolen both put up nine points. On the glass,
Gabi Burgess (Bloomingdale, IL/Lake Park) led with nine rebounds, while Roberts recorded eight.
As a team, the Miners shot 54.4% from the field and 31.8% from three-point range. They had 42 points in the paint with 28 points off turnovers. S&T collected 57 bench points with 51 rebounds.
With the win, the Miners have earned their seventh win in their first nine games for the first time since 2011-12. They started that season on an eight-game winning streak and finished the year 18-9 and a spot in the GLVC Tournament.

S&T has concluded their eight-game homestand following this game. They will be back on Jan. 3 at Truman State at 5:15 p.m. Following their contest at William Jewell on Jan. 5, they will come back home to face Drury on Jan. 11.
