Box Score LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Missouri S&T's seven-game winning streak ended with a 65-52 loss to St. Mary's today. The Miners' offense struggled against a stout Rattlers' defense, shooting just 29% from the field and 16.7% from three-point range.
The Miners fell behind 4-0 in the opening minutes, but a slow start for both offenses allowed S&T to take their first lead ten minutes into the game. The following minutes saw two lead changes and two ties before the Miners took their largest lead of the game at 19-15. However, the Rattlers went on a 13-4 run to close the half, taking a 28-23 lead into the break.
St. Mary's extended their lead at the start of the second half with a 15-2 run that put them up 43-25 over S&T. The Miners quickly responded with a 12-0 run, during which Aidan Burns (Thayer, MO/Thayer) knocked down a pair of three-pointers.
The Rattlers finally scored again with eight and a half minutes remaining, leading to a short stretch where both teams exchanged baskets as St. Mary's pulled ahead by 10 once more. A 9-3 run by S&T, including five points from Lovell Williams (Rogers, MN/Maple Grove), cut the Miners' deficit to four points with three minutes left. However, the Miners were unable to complete the comeback, going just 1-for-5 in the final minutes while St. Mary's pulled away to secure a 65-52 victory.
Andrew Young (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) led the team in scoring and recorded his fourth double-double of the season, contributing 13 points and 12 rebounds. St. Mary's defense pressured the Miners throughout the game, forcing a season-high 21 turnovers for S&T.

S&T will face #3 West Liberty tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 p.m. as they look to avoid an 0-2 week in Vegas.
