Alina Carrillo Named to All-GLVC Second Team

WILLIAMSVILLE, Ill. – Alina Carrillo (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty) was named to the All-GLVC Second Team on Thursday night.

Alina Carrillo (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty), a senior transfer from Daytona State College two seasons ago, played exceptional for the Miners this season.

Offensively, she led S&T with 3.62 kills per set and 355 total kills. Her 415.5 total points led S&T this season. At the service line, she also led the Miners with 30 aces and 0.31 aces per set. Carrillo saw 1,108 total attempts go her way this season as she led the Miners offense.

Defensively, Carrillo was first in digs with 341 and second in digs per set at 3.48. She also recorded 53 blocks this season which ranked third on the team.

Her season-best 25 kills came back on Sept. 7 against St. Mary's. She had three matches of 20 or more kills this season and 19 matches of 10 or more kills. Carrillo's 31 digs versus McKendree on Oct. 25 marked a season high.

She picked up 17 total double-doubles this season for the Miners. Those 17 double-doubles was second all-time at Missouri S&T in terms of kills and digs. She also had nine consecutive double-doubles between Oct. 4-26 which is first in Missouri S&T history.

Carrillo came to Missouri S&T two seasons ago as a transfer from Daytona State College. She finished her two-year S&T career with 599 kills and 672 digs. Between her time in Daytona and Rolla, Carrillo joined both the 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs club. She was honored for those accomplishments this season.


A computer science major at Missouri S&T, Carrillo plans to stay with the team next season as a manager.
