ROLLA, Mo. -- The Miners Women's Soccer team saw six athletes receive Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators (CSC) this week.
Anastasia Barcom (St. Louis, MO/Rosati-Kain),
Greycen Erisman (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit West),
Ava Hoenes (Columbia, MO/Hickman),
Melissa Parker (Chesterfield, MO/Marquette),
Savannah Tully (Elkhart, IN/Elkhart), and
Grace Young (Sykesville, MD/Liberty) all received the academic honor.
Hoenes, the lone senior of the group, led the team in points, shots, and minutes played this season... as well as tying for a team-high in goals scored and assists with 4 and 5, respectively. This is her second CSC Academic All-District award, receiving the honor last season as well. She is also a three-time Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Academic team honoree and three-time receipient of the Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar award for maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Barcom, Erisman, and Parker are the juniors in the group of honorees. Barcom ranked in the top ten in the GLVC for both goals against average and save percentage this season. She also was fifth in saves per game 77 in 14 matches for an average of 5.5 per match and was a member of the 2023 GLVC All-Academic Team. Erisman had the second most points on the team this year and tied with Hoenes for the most assists. She saw the third most playing time of any Miner and scored three goals, including a last-second game-winner against Lincoln of Missouri on September 15th. Erisman was a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association All-Academic team in 2022. Parker was a key part of the Miners midfield, emerging as a top goal-scorer by the end of the season with three goals in the final four matches. She is also a two-time GLVC All-Academic team honoree and received the GLVC Brother James Gaffney Distinguished Scholar award in 2022.
Sophomores Tully and Young round out the honorees. Tully played the fourth most minutes of anyone on the team this season, contributing on the Miners' defensive back line. Young, who started the season as primarily a depth player, would see an increase in playing time in the final month of play, with her minutes played increasing over 50% and earning four starts in that time. Both Tully and Young were members of the GLVC All-Academic team last season.
