TERRE HAUTE, Ind. --
Andrew Young (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) recorded 22 points and 10 rebounds yesterday, helping the Miners win their season opener by 91-77 over Ohio Dominican.
Young was the only player on either team to record a double-double, while his 22 points and 10 rebounds were both team highs for the game. He played for a total of 31 minutes, shooting 54.5% from the field. Young also was perfect from the three-point line, going 2-for-2, and was 8-of-9 on free throws, including going 6-for-6 late in the second half to help the Miners take a commanding lead. Additionally, Young had 4 assists and 1 steal.
The award is Young's first career player of the week honor. The last time that a Miner won the POTW was February 26th, 2024, when
Ikenna Okeke (Bolingbrook, IL/Romeoville) averaged 26.5 points in wins against Drury and Southwest Baptist.
