ROLLA, Mo, -- Missouri S&T Women's Volleyball took down Drury for their first GLVC win of the 2024 season.

The Panthers took the first set 25-20 over the Miners. Eight of the first 10 points of the set went to Drury as they took an 8-2 lead. S&T attempted a comeback as they came back within two points at 15-13. Later, the Miners were within one at 20-19, but the Panthers rattled off five of the next six points to win 25-20.

Missouri S&T won the next two sets, both by scores of 25-22. After Drury took an early 7-3 lead, the Miners slowly crawled back with runs and eventually took a 16-15 lead thanks to an attack error. The Panthers tied the set 16-16 but the Miners took a three-point lead that eventually turned into a 23-19 lead. An attack error decided the set as the Miners tied up the match at one a piece.

In the third set, the Miners had everything working as they took an early 11-6 lead. Drury made it 11-9 but S&T had four straight points, two of them were kills by Alina Carrillo (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty). Over the next 11 points, the Panthers adjusted and tallied nine points to take a 19-18 lead. S&T, however, closed out the set with six points over eight attempts. Madison Offerman (Herscher, IL/Herscher) closed it out with a kill.

Drury forced a fifth set with a 25-21 fourth set victory. The Miners once again took an early lead as they made it 5-3. Midway through the set, S&T had seven points in eight tries to make the score 16-11. The Panthers committed five attack errors in that stretch. Drury responded to the Miners run with a run of their own after they made the score 19-18. Kayli Duncan ended the set with a kill for a 25-21 win to force a fifth set.

In S&T's third five set match of the season, they won 16-14. After the two teams were tied 2-2, Missouri S&T took a 6-3 lead. In that run, Jordan Burton (Olathe, KS/Olathe South) tallied three kills in three straight S&T points. With a 7-5 lead, the Panthers recorded a four-point run to take a 9-7 lead. Isabelle Monaco (O'Fallon, MO/Living Word Christian) ended that run with a kill and Carrillo picked up a kill to tie the set. S&T made the score 13-13 but Drury brought it to a match point after an attack error. To close out the match, Burton tied the set with a kill and Monaco collected the last two kills to give S&T a victory in their home opener.
