ROLLA, Mo. – S&T Women's Volleyball moved to .500 in GLVC play after they took down Southwest Baptist 3-1 on Saturday night.
After SBU won the first set, the Miners won the next three sets to close out the weekend.
The Bearcats took the first set handily 25-15 over the Miners. Their 10 points in 13 attempts proved to be enough as they went up 12-7 at that point. Later, they recorded another big run to increase the lead to 20-10 as they eventually won 25-15. Mya Leach collected the last two kills for SBU.
In the second set, S&T edged SBU with a 25-23 back-and-forth victory. The two teams remained close until the Miners recorded a five-point run to make a 14-11 lead.
Alina Carrillo (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty) had three kills in that stretch. However, the Bearcats responded with their own five-point run late as they took a 23-21 lead. S&T closed the door as they picked up the last four points to win 25-23. Carrillo had two kills at the end and
Jordan Burton (Olathe, KS/Olathe South) picked up two.
The Miners took a 2-1 match lead after a 28-26 third set victory.  Neither team led by more than one point until the Miners took a 9-6 lead following a three-point run. That lead quickly turned into a 12-7 lead. S&T had everything working with a 19-12 lead late in the set. However, SBU rattled off eight consecutive points to tie the match at 22-22. The Bearcats were within a set point at 26-25, but a kill from Burton and
Isabelle Monaco (O'Fallon, MO/Living Word Christian) and an attacking error ended the side at 28-26.
Missouri S&T defeated Southwest Baptist in the fourth set with a score of 25-22. SBU had a lead for almost the entire set, as their biggest was at 17-12. Following an S&T three-point run, SBU quickly shut that down with a five-point run to increase their lead to 22-15. Almost improbably, the Miners went on a 10-point run to take down the Bearcats. In those ten points,
Madison Smith (Boonville, MO/Boonville) had two kills, Burton tallied three and both combined for a block. As she did on Friday night, Monaco ended the match with a kill.

Carrillo picked up 23 kills and 11 digs on Saturday night for another double-double. Burton hit .379 with 14 kills and only three attacking errors. Monaco collected nine kills and 24 digs to lead the team.
Madison Offerman (Herscher, IL/Herscher) had eight kills and Smith chipped in five.
Annie Arand (Washington, MO/St. Francis Borgia) set up 28 kills, while
Elise Mehaffy (Marion, IA/Marion) had 21. Both setters had double-doubles in assists and digs. Smith tallied seven total blocks, while Mehaffy had four. Libero
Adelyn Weiler (Ste. Genevieve, MO/Valle Catholic) recorded 11 digs.
