ROLLA, Mo. — S&T hosted the Quincy Hawks in their 12th match of the season yesterday. The Miners fell 1-0 to the Hawks though, dropping to 2-9-1 on the season.
Greycen Erisman (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit West) provided some early scoring opportunities for S&T, taking two shots in the opening three minutes, both of which led to saves for Quincy's Julia Mincher. The Hawks wouldn't get their first shot on goal until nearly twelve minutes into the game, with a shot by Ella Wolfard being saved by Anastasia Barcom (St. Louis, MO/Rosati-Kain).
At 16:31, a shot by Ava Hoenes (Columbia, MO/Hickman) just missed, hitting the right post. Less than two minutes later, the Hawks wouldn't score the first and only goal of the contest, with a blocked shot rebounding off a defender and leading to a goal in the bottom right corner for Quincy's Olivia Nelson.
The Miners took some shots at the start of the second half, with Hoenes getting a pair of shots on goal. The Hawks would control the ball well for much of the half though, limiting opportunities for S&T. A late push for the Miners would get them another shot and a trio of corner kicks before the clock hit 90:00 to end the game at 1-0.
Barcom had a 7 save night, bringing her season total 69. Erisman and Hoenes tied for the lead in shots and shots on goal with 3 and 2, respectively.
