ROLLA, Mo. -- Two more conference matches are set for this weekend, with the Miners scheduled to host the Quincy Hawks on Friday at 5pm and the Upper Iowa Peacocks on Sunday at 12pm.
About the Hawks:
The Hawks are 2-7-2 this season, with a 2-4-2 conference record. Their only two Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) wins of the season came against Lewis and Rockhurst, both of which were 3-1 victories.
The Miners are 1-1-1 in their previous three home matches in series against Quincy, with the most recent being a 2-2 tie in April 2021.
Sophomore Reegan Hess is the leading goal-scorer for the Hawks this season with three, including the game-winning goal in last week's 3-1 victory over Rockhurst University. The Hawks have the fifth most saves in the conference, with senior goalkeeper Julia Mincher preventing 64 this season.
About the Peacocks:
If the season were to end today, the Peacocks would be the last team to qualify for the conference tournament, with their 3-3-2 GLVC record ranking them eighth in the conference. UIU split last week's games, getting shutout by Drury 4-0 on Friday before bouncing back with a 1-0 victory over Southwest Baptist on Sunday.
The Miners are undefeated all-time against the Peacocks with a 4-0-1 record. The most recent match between these two teams was last season in Rolla, which ended in a 2-1 victory for S&T.
The Peacocks best player so far this season has been freshman Jordan Goldstein, who leads Upper Iowa in assists and shares the lead for goals with Haylie Hutchinson. Goldstein is tied for second in the conference for assists scored per game, with five in ten matches for a .500 average.
About the Miners:
S&T suffered a pair of losses in last week's road trip to Lewis and Indianapolis, bringing their 2024 record to 2-8-1. Barcom made 13 saves between the two matches, including 11 in their match against Indianapolis, bringing her season save percentage to 78.5%.
The Miners had to play a total of 91 minutes down a player in last week's matches due to a red card in each competition. Despite the disadvantage, S&T was able to get 10 shots off between the two matches, with six different Miners contributing in that category.
What's Next:
The Miners will make their final road trip of the season next week, heading to Liberty and Kirksville to face William Jewell and Truman State.
