Pair of first half goals sends S&T to defeat at Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Missouri S&T's women's soccer team was unable to overcome a pair of first half goals and dropped the first contest on its weekend road trip as it fell 2-0 Friday evening to Rockhurst.

The Hawks (4-3-2, 2-2-1 GLVC), who snapped a three-game winless streak with the victory, got a goal from Anna Lantz in the 30th minute and from Jacie Tottleben in the 43rd minute of play, then held the Miners to just two shots in the second half in a game where they outshot S&T 20-3.

Lantz's goal came on a penalty kick, as the Miners committed a foul in the box and Lantz converted the opportunity to give Rockhurst the lead.  The second goal by Tottleben came on a shot from about 10 yards away when she beat S&T goalkeeper Anastasia Barcom (St. Louis, MO/Rosati-Kain) to the far left side of the goal.

The best scoring chance for the Miners (2-3-3, 1-3-1 GLVC) came in the 78th minute as a shot by Amelia Mundo (Northbrook, IL/Glenbrook North) was stopped by Taylor James on the left side of the net.

Barcom made three saves in goal as the Hawks had five shots on net to S&T's one.

Missouri S&T will take on William Jewell Sunday at noon to wrap up its road swing.
