ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's women's soccer held the Great Lakes Valley Conference leader off the scoreboard Sunday afternoon and got a result for its efforts as the Miners played to a scoreless tie with Drury at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
The Miners (2-2-3, 1-2-1 GLVC) became only the second team to hold Drury (6-1-1, 3-0-1 GLVC) scoreless in a contest this season and picked up their second shutout in as many contests in the process. However, they were unable to get a shot on Panther goalkeeper Kaitlin Knetzke as she extended her string of shutout minutes to 610.
Drury appeared to have taken the lead in the 12
th minute, but the goal was waved off due to an offsides call. S&T goalkeeper
Viktoria Johnson (Granite City, IL/Granite City) – making her first start of the season – and the defensive unit kept the Panthers at bay for the balance of the afternoon.
Johnson finished the day with eight saves as S&T recorded back-to-back shutouts for the first time since late in the 2021 season. The tie halted Drury's six-game winning streak, but the Panthers remained at the top of the conference standings after action was complete around the league on Sunday.
Missouri S&T returns to action Friday when it takes on Rockhurst at 5 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo.
