Miners continue GLVC play at SBU before Easter

ROLLA, Mo. - The Missouri S&T baseball team will continue Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a visit to Southwest Baptist for a four-game series starting on Thursday with a single game at 5 p.m, with the middle games scheduled for Friday at noon start before the series wraps up Saturday with a noon start in Bolivar, Mo. 
 
The Miners (14-15, 5-11 GLVC) enter this series coming off a week in which it went 4-1, which included a mid-week win over Pittsburg State and taking three of four from Truman State, clinching the series win on Doug Wood (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) walk-off home run on Sunday.
 
Heading into the SBU series, Chase Burgess (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) leads S&T in six offensive categories which includes a .343 batting average, 30 hits and 10 doubles while also stealing 16 bases. Tommy Ruether (Washington, MO/Washington) is right below Burgess with a .342 batting average that includes 25 hits, while Wood leads S&T with five home runs and 30 runs batted in.
 
On the mound, Dylan Mollett (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) and Ethan Morrow (Lenexa, KS/Shawnee Mission West) have each pitched a team-high 30.1 innings as Mollett is coming off a six-inning outing with six strikeouts. Morrow recorded seven strikeouts in his last outing. Estin McBroom (Monett, MO/Monett) looks to build upon his five-inning and six strikeout victory over Truman as he has struck out 21 batters on the season. 
 
ABOUT SOUTHWEST BAPTIST:
The Bearcats (7-23, 3-9 GLVC) enter this series coming off a series sweep at the hands of Drury last weekend.
 
SBU is led in batting by Zeke Skinner with a .365 batting average as he leads the team with 38 hits, eight home runs and 30 RBI. Tremayne Mungin comes into the series with 29 hits and 21 runs batted in while hitting for an .261 average.
 
On the mound, Cole Van Every leads SBU's pitching rotation with 35 innings pitched as he struck out 27 batters while posting a 7.97 ERA on the season. Jake Fuller, meanwhile, has pitched 31 innings while striking out 21 batters and Josiah Jones is the top reliever out of the bullpen for the Bearcats as he has appeared in 12 games while hitting 10 batters.
