ROLLA, Mo. - The S&T men's volleyball team continued its late-season homestand Thursday night with a rematch against Quincy, but the Hawks snapped S&T's four-game winning streak with a straight-set win at Gibson Arena.
The Miners (7-9) led for much of the opening set before falling 30-28 before dropping the final two sets by identical 25-20 scores as they lost for the first time in five decisions on their home floor.

S&T got off to a 7-1 lead in set one, as
Josh Duett (Grain Valley, Mo./Grain Valley) started the run with a kill and
Caleb Rohlwing (Barrington, Ill./Barrington) served for six consecutive points that included a service ace. A short time later, the Miners made a five-point run that started on a kill by
Nate Meyer (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) to stretch their lead to 10 at 14-4. Quincy responded with a 7-2 run that started on Meyer service error before
Zachary Carff (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Dominic) ended it with a kill that made the set 17-11.Â

S&T led 22-16 when Quincy responded with three consecutive points to cut the lead down to three at 22-19 before Carff recorded a kill to put the Miners back up by four, but the Hawks scored the next four points and tied the match on a Keegan Carey service ace. The teams swapped points until the score was tied at 28, then the Hawks won the set after back-to-back errors by the Miners.

Rohlwing began the second set with a kill and added a service ace that gave the Miners an early 3-0 lead. The Miners continued to lead through the early stages of the set – leading by four on two occasions and the last at 18-14 – before Quincy responded with four straight points as Roman Deryckere tied the set at 18-18 with a service ace.
Aaron Sallade (Palatine, Ill./William Fremd) gave S&T a one-point advantage at 20-19 on a kill, but Quincy ended the set on a 6-0 run to win 25-20.

In the final set, the Hawks got out to an early lead but the Miners fought back to take the lead at 5-4 on a kill by Sallade. Each team exchanged points to a 8-8 tie when the Hawks responded with back-to-back points to take the lead at 10-8. With the score tied at 15, Quincy took the lead for good with a 4-0 run that began with a kill by Logan Gieseke.
The Hawks ran off another 3-0 run to go up by six before
Grogan Kraus (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) made a block to end the run, but could only get as close as four down the stretch before Raje Alleyne ended the match with a kill. Â

S&T was led in kills by Meyer with 13, while
Josh Duett (Grain Valley, Mo./Grain Valley) added 10 and
Jordan Orr (Eureka, Mo./Eureka) led the Miners with 39 assists. On the defensive side, Rohlwing led S&T with three blocks and Meyer led the way with six digs. Â

The Hawks (6-12) was led in kills by Alleyne with 14 and Carey added 10.Â

The Miners will resume action Friday evening as they host Kansas Wesleyan at 5 p.m. in Gibson Arena.Â
