3/23/2023 10:30:00 AM

ROLLA, Mo. - The Missouri S&T baseball team will return to Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend with a four-game series against Drury starting Saturday at 1 p.m. with its first two games and concluding the series Sunday with a doubleheader with first pitch at noon. Due to weather, the series will now be played at Maryville University in St. Louis.

The Miners (9-11. 1-7 GLVC) enter this weekend's series looking to get back on track, as they lost three of four at Quincy last weekend and then lost a non-conference game Wednesday to 11th-ranked Missouri Southern 14-5 at the S&T Ballpark.

In the Missouri Southern contest, the teams combined for only 13 hits – Southern had seven to S&T's six – as Aaron Berkhoff (Colorado Springs, CO/Cheyenne Mountain) and Dakota Sill (Lansing, KS/Lansing) had two apiece for the Miners. Berkhoff and Chase Burgess (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) had all four runs batted in for S&T. On the mound, the Miners used eight different pitchers in the contest, allowing only seven hits and striking out four between them, but they also walked 10 hitters and hit four batters along the way.

Entering the weekend, S&T is led in batting by Burgess with a .338 batting average with a team-high six doubles and 12 stolen bases. Sill is hitting .329 on the season as he also leads the team with three triples; he has also stolen 10 bases and has a .521 slugging percentage.

On the mound, starting pitchers Ethan Morrow (Lenexa, KS/Shawnee Mission West) and Dylan Mollett (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) have each thrown at least 20 innings each, combining for 37 strikeouts as Morrow has recorded 19 and Mollett 18.
