2/6/2023 11:24:00 AM

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Great Lakes Valley Conference has named Alex Kerr (St. Louis, MO/St. Joseph's Academy) as the conference's Player of the Week after she averaged a double-double during the past week with averages of 21.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, while adding two blocked shots and three steals.

Kerr set two Missouri S&T career records over the course of the week – first scoring 22 points with six rebounds, a block and two steals in a loss to second-ranked Drury where she broke the S&T all-time scoring record, surpassing Tamara McCaskill's old mark during the game as she finished the week with 1,561 points.

In the following game against Southwest Baptist, Kerr had 21 points and 15 rebounds, a block and a steal in S&T's 52-48 win over Southwest Baptist that kept S&T in fifth in the GLVC's Points Rating System standings. In the victory, Kerr broke the S&T all-time rebounding record that had stood since the late 1980s during the game, as she surpassed Tanya Hough as the top rebounder in Miner history when she got her 13th rebound of the afternoon and 914th of her career just past the midway point of the fourth quarter.  She finished the SBU contest with 916 career boards. Kerr also had 14 of her game-high 21 points in the second half as S&T came from behind to get the win.

Kerr, a graduate student at S&T, earned her Bachelor's degree in biological sciences and is currently working towards a Master's degree in business with plans of attending law school in the fall. This is the fifth time she has earned the GLVC's weekly award in her career.

The Miners will close out a four-game homestand by hosting Missouri- St. Louis Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Gibson Arena
