ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's women's soccer team played on even terms with one of the top teams in the Great Lakes Valley Conference on Sunday afternoon, but fell short as a penalty kick goal in the 19
th minute gave McKendree a 1-0 victory over the Miners at the S&T Soccer Field.
Reagan Mauch converted the penalty kick for the only goal of the contest after the Miners committed a foul in the box. Even though the Miners were outshot by a 14-4 margin on the afternoon, only four of the Bearcat shots were on goal and
Anastasia Barcom (St. Louis, MO/Rosati-Kain) stopped all four.
The Miners (4-4-3, 3-4-1 GLVC) had three corner kick chances, including two in the second half, but were not able to get a shot on McKendree goalkeeper Abby Tucker on any of those opportunities. The win moved McKendree to 7-1-3 overall and 3-1-3 in the GLVC.
Missouri S&T will head on the road for its next two games, beginning with Friday's 5 p.m. (Eastern time) game at Indianapolis.
