OWENSBORO, Ky. – Thanks to posting the lowest score of any team on the course Sunday, Missouri S&T maintained the lead it obtained in the first round and went on to win its final tournament of the fall portion of the season as it captured the Kentucky Wesleyan Fall Invitational.
The Miners had three players shoot par or better on Sunday as they had a team score of 286 in the second round – three shots better than any of the other 15 teams in the field – to finish with an overall score of 575 to end up five shots in front of Ferris State for the team title.
Isaac To (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia/Real International School) posted a score of 70 in round two, which matched the best round of the day and was good enough to earn him a second place finish overall with a three-under-par score of 141.
Carl Miltun (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) tied for third after an even par 72 gave him a final score of 142, while
Nicolas Estrada (Zaragoza, Spain/IES Valdespartera) also shot a 70 Sunday to tie for seventh at 144.
Cole Komyati (Elberta, AL/Bayside Academy), playing as an individual and the first round leader, finished tied for 12
th with a score of 146, while
Connor Benjamin (Nelson Bay, Australia/St. Philip's Christian College) tied for 14
th at 147.
Carter Schmitt (Baton Rouge, LA/Catholic) posted a score of 149 and
Jeppe Thybo (Esbjerg, Denmark/Rybners Gymnasium) finished at 150 to round out the S&T contingent; Schmitt also finished the tournament with 10 birdies to lead all players, while Miltun recorded nine in the event.
