Miners fall to Lindenwood in exhibition contest

ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Missouri S&T's women's soccer played on even terms for much of the night with one of the newest members of the NCAA Division I ranks, but a second half goal decided the contest at Lindenwood knocked off S&T 1-0 Friday evening.

Eygio Thorsteindottir's goal in the 72nd minute broke the scoreless tie for the only goal of the contest as she got a shot by S&T goalkeeper Anastasia Barcom (St. Louis, MO/Rosati-Kain), one of three goalies used by the Miners in Friday's game that served as an exhibition contest for the Miners.

The Miners used not only three goalkeepers in the game, but also played 21 field players over the course of the night as they will be back in action Sunday at Washburn.

Lindenwood outshot the Miners 9-2 in the game, with S&T's shots coming from Ally Hasken (Freeport, IL/Freeport) and Jillian Pelger (Tulsa, OK/Bishop Kelley).  Pelger had the only shot on net for S&T in the 83rd minute that was stopped by Lion goalkeeper Sam Blazek.

The Miners and Ichabods will face off at 1 p.m. Sunday in Topeka, Kan.  Washburn moved to 3-0 on the season Friday with a 2-0 win at Augustana.
