SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Missouri S&T's women's soccer team fell short in its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener Sunday afternoon as Illinois Springfield handed the Miners a 3-0 loss.
The Prairie Stars (2-2-2) scored twice in the opening half, getting on the scoreboard in the 27
th minute on the first of two goals scored by Ally Lassetter. Sierra Cenek scored just over four minutes later to extend the lead to 2-0, then Lassetter got her second tally in the 57
th minute to complete the scoring.
UIS held a 14-5 advantage in shots in the game –
Sydney Gratz (Geneva, IL/Geneva) had two of S&T's five shots in the game – but none of the Miner attempts were on goal. S&T goalkeeper
Viktoria Johnson (Granite City, IL/Granite City) was credited with three saves in the contest.
Missouri S&T (0-2-2) will return to the pitch Friday when it hosts Truman State at 5 p.m.
